This gentle internal scan looks closely at your womb, ovaries, and surrounding areas after menopause. It checks the womb lining, and can spot changes such as cysts, fibroids, or polyps. It’s often used to investigate symptoms like unexpected bleeding, pelvic discomfort, or bloating, giving you clear answers and peace of mind.
What's Included
- Check the size and shape of the uterus
- The thickness of the endometrium (lining of the womb)
- Both ovaries
- The adnexa (areas that surround the ovaries)
- Will be transabdominal and transvaginal scan (unless TV scan declined or contraindicated)
- Will detect, however is not limited to: Endometrial thickening, Ovarian masses, Fibroids
- Diagnostic scan report included
Appointment Details
- Duration: 20 minute appointment time, includes the consultation and scan
- Performed by NHS experienced and HCPC registered sonographers
- Same day scan results with guidance on further follow up where required
How To Prepare
- Full bladder required - please drink 1 pint of water (500 ml) at least 1 hour before the scan and do not empty bladder during this time
