Pelvic Fertility Scan

A transvaginal fertility scan is a gentle, safe way to look closely at your womb and ovaries to help understand your fertility. A small probe is placed just inside the vagina to give a clear picture of your reproductive organs, helping check egg development, ovulation, and overall pelvic health. The scan is quick, usually takes less than 15 minutes, and you’ll get your results on the same day so you can take the next steps in your fertility journey with confidence.

What's Included

  • This scan will check the size and shape of the uterus, the thickness of the endometrium (lining of the womb), the size, shape and appearances of the ovaries and the appearance of the pelvic area
  • Correlation of the scan appearances with your normal cycle will be made
  • Will be transabdominal and transvaginal scan (unless TV scan declined or contraindicated)
  • This scan will detect any abnormalities of the uterus (the muscular part of the womb), the endometrium (the lining of the womb) and the ovaries which include, however is not limited to: Fibroids, Polyps, Adenomyosi,s Polycystic ovaries, Ovarian cysts, Ovarian masses
  • Diagnostic scan report included

Appointment Details

  • Duration: 20 minute appointment time, includes the consultation and scan
  • Performed by NHS experienced and HCPC registered sonographers
  • Same day scan results with guidance on further follow up where required

How To Prepare

  • Full bladder required - please drink 1 pint of water (500 ml) at least 1 hour before the scan and do not empty bladder during this time
