A Fetal Growth Scan is a detailed ultrasound that assesses your baby’s development in the second half of pregnancy. By measuring key growth indicators, this scan will provide you with an estimation of baby’s weight, as well as providing you with general wellbeing checks.
What's Included
- Check for your baby’s heartbeat
- Take a look at basic fetal anatomy, including stomach, kidneys, and bladder
- Measure your baby’s growth by checking the head, tummy, and upper leg
- Estimate your baby’s weight
- Find out the placenta’s location
- See how your baby is positioned (presentation)
- Check the amount of amniotic fluid around your baby
- Assess blood flow in the umbilical cord, which connects the placenta to your baby
- Receive a detailed scan report
- Includes two printed scan images to take home
Appointment Details
- Duration: 15 minute appointment time, includes the consultation and scan
- Performed by NHS experienced and HCPC registered sonographers
- Same day scan results with guidance on further follow up where required
